According to the most recent WebWatch report for theatrical trailers, The Next Three Days preview represents a 3.78% market share. That puts it behind other fall releases such as Burlesque (6.19%), The Social Network (4.82%) and Love and Other Drugs (4.37%).
The Paul Haggis film doesn't hit theaters until November 19, so there's plenty of time to rebound and build awareness. Support for the film should also pick up after Labor Day once moviegoers have had their fill of the summer season and are ready to start thinking about Oscar contenders.
The Next Three Days marks a big test for Russell Crowe. The actor's drawing power seems to be waning unless he works with Ridley Scott. Great reviews and a rush of Oscar buzz could help give Crowe's career a boost.
